Hi All,
is it possible to control the OT MKII with the Novation Launch control, the compact one not the xl.

If it’s midi class compliant (apparently yes), you can plug it in a device with USB to midi DIN, and use it with OT.
Iconnectivity, Kenton, Arduino…

Check how you can configurate it for standalone purpose.

The thing is that i am not sure it is a stand alone unit.
For some reason it dosnt same the presets without being connected to laptop.
so maybe im doing something wrong or its not meant to.

Seems possible according to Novation.
From what I read you need to send a sysex file in order to make it standalone.

The Launch Control can be used with the Circuit with a beta version of the firmware and using the Launch Control editor software.

We have tested the Kenton MIDI USB host box and iConnectivity MIDI4+.

Launch Control requires a firmware update to be fully class compliant. This is available at the Novation beta website.

Launch Control XL also has a firmware update.

Both will then work with the Kenton USB to MIDI box and iConnectivity Midi4+.

any idea how do i update the firmware?
im a bit new in this, with the updater they provide i cant do it cause it looks for an official version.

For PC use Midi-OX to send in the sysex file. http://www.midiox.com/
For Apple Mac use Sysex Librarian. https://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

Just select the Launch Control Midi port in either software then drag the sysex file in and send it. It takes a few seconds only.

Let me know if you have any issues.

Do you know where can i find the full Midi cc map for OT mkii?
In the manual its not the full one and not so clear.

The full list of CC messages that the OT responds is for sure given in Appendix C of the manual. The layout is clearer in the latest version on Elektron’s website.

Two questions

  1. Is it possible to make the lights on the Novation pad to respond?

  2. Is it possible to make the Novation respond to track change on the OT, when i change a track ,the Novation will change a preset acordingly.

A strange thing happens,

The first pad on the novation which is set up to channel 1 is influancing every channel track I press on the OT although its set up for midi ch 1 which is similar to the OT track 1
any ideas?

Do you have the first pad set to note instead of cc in the LaunchControl editor?

No,
all the pads are set to cc,
its so strange, did a preset reset then re program again , still same
all pad and channels are fine but the first one that send cc notes to the track im curently on in the OT although in the it is prorgamed to ch 1.

Problem solved,
i changed the ch for track 1 to ch9 both on OT and pad so now all works OK the only thing is that the light indication on the pads doesn’t work so you cant see which channel is on mute on the pad
