OT MkI - OS 1.40A - No Sound on Tracks 2-8 in BareBones Rompler-esque environment

My OT use is bare bones currently:

  • Half Static & Half Flex Machines
  • Slots Mode utilising OS1.40 feature to play Slots via MIDI Note#
  • No Scenes, No PLocks, No Trig Conditions, No Trigs even
  • Basically using the OT as a rompler (rampler?) in this instance
  • Loading a Sample into one of the Tracks in question (still shows as the sample playing in the display screen)
  • Accessing the AED and attempting to play samples from there (still: no sound)

Was just in the studio a few days ago and everything was working as expected. Shut down as normal. Today at boot up, only Track 1 Plays either via MIDI or by pressing Trig buttons. No other Tracks play.

The screen looks like the samples are playing (the box for the slot being triggered enlarges and the little play bar moves), but no sound emanates.

Tried with no resolution (attempts by memory access, not in order of attempt):

  • Removed from any MIDI input & rebooted
  • Reloaded the OS
  • Copy/Pasted the working Track to other Tracks
  • Checked Amp Settings, Filter Settings, I don’t use Scenes but verified those settings
  • Checked Level settings (have switched back and forth from Studio & Normal CFGs
  • Checked dall Parts, all behave the same

Making a new Project works, but I have a fair amount of samples loaded to the Project in question, but had planned to add more as this project developed. This is more than a curiosity and I’m not of the mind that having to recreate a Project without any warning of problem will be advantageous to any reasonable workflow of someone of my strained & limited mental resources.

It’s like Channels 2-8 just stopped outputting or something.
What might I be missing?
Is there relief if the Project File is corrupted other than rebuilding a new one from scratch? Again: Fairly easy to do since I don’t really use much other than the Slot Lists and most (all?) control of FX is manual or via MIDI.

Note: My MIDI control is breaking apart Note Events and redistributing the bytes, but I’m not using any of this in trying to resolve the problem. Further, all of this happens while disconnected from all MIDI and controlling the OT from the front panel.

What do you think I might be missing that I should check before submitting something to support?

Addendum: Just ran across this weird thing -> Muting the Track that Plays does not Mute the Track.

Yeeeeeeaaaaah…that’s sounding like a data corruption or Bug to me (or bug that leads to data corruption - woo!). Thoughts?

I’m a bit confused at what you are trying to do… But, did you check the sample editor, to make sure your loop points are correct?

No loop.
Just trying to play a sample in Slots Mode

Right, I’m saying start and end points of the sample. Have you gone into the editor and checked the settings there. Just thought

Mutes only stop sequencer trigs from executing.

Also, scenes. Check all scenes.

I appreciate the assistance, but I tend to use one shot samples.
Start and End Points are where they are expected/should be.
Appreciate the insight, tho - I’ll add that to future troubleshooting steps.

First place I checked! Yup.
No scenes.
Again: Just a glorified rompler - no scenes, no internal sequencing, etc.

When you are in the editor, and you hit func/yes does that sample play?

I haven’t had to troubleshoot like this since 1.40 came out…I think. (memory sucks, tho)

Thank you, but this is not sample specific.
If I play Sample Slot 001 from Track 1, it plays.
If I play Sample Slot 001 from Tracks 2-8, it does not play.
If I access the Slot List from Track 1 and use Fn+Yes to play the Sample in Slot 001, it plays.
if I access the Slot List from Tracks 2-8 and use Fn+Yes to play the sample in Slot 001, it does not play.

And apologies since I did not specifically answer your question…
If I access the EDITOR from Track 1, the sample in Slot 001 will Play
If I access the EDITOR from Tracks 2-8, the sample in Slot 001 will not look like it’s playing, but no sound comes out.

Did you solo track 1?
