Is anyone out there using octatrack and machinedrum together to write songs? I’m struggling to find a decent way to work. I’m getting some lovely sounds and just want to compose with them. This is what I’ve tried:-
Octa arranger with md song mode : difficulty syncing
Octa driving md program change : program change needs to be ahead (like que mode). Lack of parts. (Program change not lockable on octa?)
Octa driving md mapper start mode : glitchy results.
Octa midi driving md mapper que mode : note ons need to be ahead which is a bitch to program . Too many octa patterns needed for few end results. (Is this really the best way?)
How do you do it?
My midi setup is.
Octa out to virus 2 in
Virus. 2 out to octa in
Virus thru to md in
I did have a minicommand in chain but that was making the sync problem worse. Is it possible to control md delay from octatrack? That would be a cool feature. (Md control machines, mm control machines, a4. Etc etc, blah blah)
