I’ve never preplanned anything for a live set with elektrons. I tend to show up with blank projects and build stuff in real time. Once I tried to preload sample slots, and found that all of the samples I loaded didn’t fit the mood I ended up with.
Not the solution I’m sure you are looking for, but with a bit of effort it’s quite easy to improv trough a set. As long as you know your machines.
Edit: I too use a tt303, and it’s impossible to improv with. I tend to sit with he 303 by itself and work on patterns. I then use the tt303 in ARP mode that way I can control the scale but use any of my pre existing patterns. Doesn’t always work, but it’s usually reliable. You could of course just use the tt303 in midi mode and sequence from the OT, but I’ve yet to explore this area.
Yeah, I can jam out at home for hours but I feel this needs a bit more of a cohesive set. . . but I still want room to play!
My friend will be with me. He’s a great musician but doesn’t know the gear that well so he will most likely stick to a Moog or Juno60.
I’m thinking if I load a bank with a couple of patterns and dial in some Scenes to do what would be mutes it’ll free up my hands a bit. Have the OT change patterns on all the boxes. There’s so much to think about.
As for the TT-303. Can’t really “on the fly” that thing. I do sometimes load up a bank full of the same pattern and use the Mutate function to get realtime variations. Just leave the first one blank, the second as the original pattern and mess with the rest.
Don’t be afraid thats a nice setup for a live gig.
i use a similar one with OT, LXR Drum Machine, Acidlab Bassline and an additional Minitaur.
I prefer to chain the patterns myself and on the fly. Keeps your attention and your fingers on the machines and well its a live gig, so play it.
Its like DJing with loops only, use filters and delay to create changes in rhythm and sound and then make some nice buildups and drops. Its also excessive use of scenes and the crossfader plus FX knobs. Try some pickup machines or Flex/Recording Tracks to resample the sounds you create.
A 303 (clone) is a nice live instrument, but it needs a lot of practice. Know your patterns and learn how to get quickly to the “important” notes of your patterns with your step sequencer so you can change key and clear or add notes.
And always, always, always know which bank you got your emergency backup patterns stored if you mess things up.
yes. connect your OT to your computer. you will find bank files numbered 1-16 in your project folder. you can copy them by copy paste and changing number. It never failed but i advise you to make a complete backup first.
e.g. you want to copy bank 2 to bank 16: delete both bank 16 files, copy and paste bank 2 files and rename them to bank 16.
Maybe you can also do it with the file browser of your OT, but i never tried that

That’s pretty much how I play live, except I have a dozen of pre-arranged patterns on each machine. I do arrangements using mutes , pattern changes and effects so I don’t use song/arranger mode on any machine.
I like to have independant pattern changes though, but personnal preference.
For the 303 , it can’t be programmed live, so I would just choose among the 30-40 patterns I have written on it and run a few MD sequences along it
I noticed that I have a green LED above my Scale button. Can’t seem to figure out why. Doesn’t seem to be causing any harm just yet.
I’m also having a hard time figuring out how to quantize play a trig less track. I have some long noise type risers that I bring in from time to time and I need them to fire off on beat 1 but it doesn’t seem to be working. I have turn QPL to PLEN in the Recording Setup 2 menu but that doesn’t seem to have any effect. Is that only for samples that you’ve recorded into the recording buffer? Is there a way to do this with samples loaded from the card?
Do you have the trigs in “Delay Ctrl” mode? If so the green LED will toggle between the 2/3 positions to indicate whether the delay is in even or triplet mode.
You change trig modes by doing FUNCTION + UP/DOWN when not in record mode.
EDIT: I think some other trig modes might illuminate the pattern length LEDs in green as well. (specifically, I think chromatic mode does.)

the sequencer of the Acidlab Bassline 3 can be programmed while playing, either by programming steps or by simple playing notes. its a really decent machine

Just answered this in the or Facebook group. [/quote]
Thanks!
I’ll experiment with the Quantized stuff when I get to my studio space. The track is set up as a Flex Machine. Does that have effect on the audio versus Static Machines when manually triggering it to play? These riser I loaded were stuff that were built using different BPMs but are meant to play for 4, 8, or 16 bars and I was under the impression that if I loaded them into a Flex Machine that they would stretch or get squished accordingly.
