I’m trying to set up my DSI Evolver as master to the OT, whilst having the OT send program changes with different sequences.
The idea would be to use the Evolver’s step sequencer to change tempo speed, but still having the OT jumping in its memory to fetch desired sounds.
I’ve tried to wire and change the MIDI options on both machines but it unfortunately makes the Evolver crash each time a program change is sent to it.
For a moment I could change the program on the Evolver manually and it would keep running as long as the OT played the same sequence.
But now it seems to immediately freeze as soon as I change the program.
If anyone has an idea or even better, a solution to work around this - please let me know !
It doesn’t seem too complicated as a patch but I can’t figure it out…
Thanks, I’ve started using the Evolver as a master sequencer with two micromodulars and it had a feel of elasticity on time, which I’d like to apply to the OT’s sequencer too.
The OT is for the moment set to:
CTRL
AUDIO CC IN [OFF]
AUDIO CC OUT [INT+EXT]
AUDIO NOTE IN [OFF]
AUDIO NOTE OUT [INT+EXT]
SYNC
TRANSP [SEND]
CLOCK [RECV]
PROG CH [SEND]
…and the Evolver:
MIDI REC
Pro [Only MIDI program changes received (along with note/controller data]
MIDI XMIT
OFF
Ok. So first, I think OT transport has to be received and not sent as it is Evolver sequencer which send start/stop messages.
Evolver midi clock has to be set to OUT.
Otherwise, I think it’s ok. I have to test it. Maybe tonight.
It works for me without freezing. I finally used OT transport send. Evolver midi clock OUT.
Evolver Seq1 destination : CLO
And the other settings you made (except OT program change. There is no need to choose send or receive here).
Evolver receive program change from OT (from midi track) and OT tempo follows Evolver’s sequencer BPM modulation.
