searched and found nothing… is this a bug or a configuration I don’t find? Is there a good reason for this?
I just started using the midi tracks on the octatrack, but when I’m in midi mode, the OT doesn’t respond to incoming program changes. when I go out of midi mode, it works again…
so every time I change pattern (on the rytm) I have to make sure the OT is not in midi mode…
What channels have you set for the 8 audio channels, the 8 MIDI tracks, and for the Program Change receive channel? It seems likely that you have them overlapping somewhere.
using auto channel for program changes was the problem.
I wasn’t using auto channel for anything else, only for program changes. all the other tracks were assigned to other channels. I only use 5 midi channels on the OT.
but setting program change in to a fixed channel fixed it. I can imagine using auto channel being a problem, but wouldn’t it be a problem also for the audio tracks? I’m trying to wrap my head around how this is conflicting, but anyway it works now 
for the record: these are my midi channel settings.
channel 1-8: audio track 1-8
channel 9-12: midi track 1-4
channel 15: program change in (before this was my auto channel)
chanel 16: midi track 8 (only sends program changes to DN, which is sequenced on midi track 1-4)
