Hi there
I’m wondering is it useful to have a compressor on OT’s mastertrack and then run it into analog heat?
At the moment i run the machinedrum, A4 and minitaur througt OT. I use OT as a mixer and FX Box and OT out into AH…
I’m new to compressor stuff, so you guys might help me what makes the most sense…
Use only the compressor on the machinedrum befor running into OT?
Use compressor on OT only on Drumtrack?
Use compressor on mastertrack?
I’m pretty sure to put the AH at then end of the signal chain…
You could have a master compressor on the OT and then run it through AH, sure.
You could also compress the drum track on OT + have an additional master compressor + AH.
Everything you send to cue outs on OT doens’t go through the master track, so you have another option there (needs a mixer, though).
It all depends on what you want to compress and why.
If you’re new to compression, I would recommend taking small steps first, though.
Learn how to compress drums, learn how mix bus compression works before you apply it.
Thanks for the replys…
Yeah i’m new to compressor stuff, so i’m not quiet sure what i’m doing. I always read it’s good for glue things together.
I use the md for beats, minitaur for bass and a4 for melodic stuff and solos. A lot of the time there is going on a lot and i’m afraid to overload the songs or that it sounds too moody.
I’m not sure whats the best way to get a full sound… so i thought i need to compress stuff together, but i don’t wanna over do it.
How do you guys use the compressor on the OT?
Note; i don’t wanna use a computer and don’t own a hardware compressor either.
