Since a few week i sometimes can only play the first track (1 out of 8) on my octatrack. All the others do not provide sound, or can preview samples.
When i startup a whole new set, then everything is fine and i can work again, but when i turn off my octatrack all the files are not playing, except for the first one.
This is highly irritating me, since i have to work everytime in a new setting.
A few weeks it did not happen, when i turn my bitrate to 24, it occured again.
My warrantee is also off, so thats fuck. Anyone here also familiar with the costs, if it has to be shipped…
You were probably sending midi to it inadvertently. I remember all sorts of crazy shit happening when I connected a midi keyboard and forgot to turn off cc receive on the OT…
Ha! I remember similar problems tearing my hair out as to why my OT was starting/stopping, changing patterns, etc, etc when I was just playing my keys. Took me an age to realise what was happening!!!
I sure wish that a lot of the midi control could be turned off on the OT, I repeatedely asked for this a few years back so doubt it will happen now. If you use the OT in a studio with a midi patchbay and lots of midi gear then it is all to easy to ruin a project by losing the record buffer contents etc. Also even using a keyboard with the OT can be like russian roulette, wrong octave and you are in trouble.
I get the feeling that the main reasons the A4/K/Rytm do not send midi is to avoid support headaches for the dark trinity, but maybe I’m being overly cynical.
I use a Mutable Instruments Midipal to filter out the problematic note ranges at the OT midi in for exactly this reason. A software midi filter could probably do the same thing. Totally agree that the midi settings on the OT should be more configurable given how non-standard they are.
I’m glad I found this thread. I believe I had a midi meltdown last night. I was running midi clock from logic through a focusrite scarlett to the Octatrack and it seemed fine at first but within the project after playing around a bit I could not edit any track/sample parameters. The weird thing was if I held one of the scene buttons, regardless where the crossfader was positioned, rotating the knobs would edit the sound. However, upon releasing the scene button, the crossfader still had no effect on the sound. I disconnected all midi cables and loaded another project which acted as normal. I will turn off cc receive tonight when I jump back in.
