i try to use these 2 units ( monomachine and octatrack ) whith their respectives mode : song and arranger.
It’s working fine , except one thing.
Assume you set “row 1” with pattern A1 , then “row2” for looping the pattern A1. In a “row3” , you set pattern A2.
=> these settings are the same for both units.
Also we assume that the octatrack is the master.
If you want to ear pattern A3 on octatrack and on the monomachine, the procedure is you go to row3 on the octatrack and press enter, but the problem is that the monomachine stay on “row1” instead of moving to "row"3 with the octatrack !
make sure that u
[ul]
[li]set the octatrack in the project menu on the “sync” page to send at least transport (send clock would be also good)[/li]
[li]set the monomachine in the global menu on the “control in” page at least to accept transport (tempo sync to ext midi clk would be good too)[/li]
[/ul]
no it’s not working even with the settings you suggest.
the problem is when you set an infinite loop under a row to play it infinitely.
At this time the only issue for the monomachine to go to the next row is to do it manually ( you go to the row just under the row containing the infinite loop ), just after doing it on the octatrack and it’s not ergonomic !
i am keeping working on song mode / arranger mode.
I have noticed another strange behavior :
Suppose :
_ monomachine is the master in song mode
_ octatrack is slave in arranger mode
_ I play a 64 lenght row
_ I decide not to wait the lenght of 64 but to play the next row faster on the monomachine by pushing ENTER on this next row.
=>the octatrack react perfectly by changing the row i decide to play with the ENTER button.
BUT I CANNOT do the same thing when Octatrack is the master and the monomachine is the slave .
WHY ???
for other reason, it would be better for me to have the octatrack as the master.
So at this time I 'm keeping the monomachine as the master but it 's not the perfect routing for me .
Short answer: Turn off song/arranger mode on the slave machine.
This is how I use my OT/AK with songs:
OT is the master, set up to send program change and uses song (arranger) mode. AK is the slave, set up to receive program change and stays in PATTERN mode. The OT goes down the arranger’s list of patterns as they are programmed, and the AK changes patterns right along with it. At first I tried to use Arranger mode for both machines simultaneously, but after much effort and frustration, I figured out I didn’t need to and my problem was solved. I’m not sure if this applies to your situation. (sorry I’m tired) hopefully it helps a little
ok i understand .
but if i want to use "infinite " loops ? because somtime i have t o stay at a row just because i have to some live stuff on it and i don’t know exactly when i want to play the row after this infinite loop.
You know ?
Actually my problem occurs just with infinite loops and don’t know why the machines does not answer to a manual change of row after thzt.
Anyway i decide to forgive it and choose to set a loop 64x so that i have time tweak my patterns ; and when i 'm ready to play the next row, i push enter and it runs , but only in the way “MM master and OT slave” and not the other.
