Very warm, was listening to this yesterday via GS. Cheers for the share!
Nice and soothing!
How do you like using cassettes? I’ve been thinking about getting a cassette recorder, but I’ve never seen a before/after comparison, so it’s a bit hard to tell how much of the smooth sound comes from, say, your Akai and how much does the casssette affect things.

So incredibly good.
Reminds me of an Opal Tapes release or U.
PM the track to me so I can listen to it without the Youtube compression.
Keep it up.
LOVE IT!
Got an S950 last week and I’m still learning the ins and outs (and getting an HxC floppy emulator), but THIS is such a great illustration of the magic of 12 bit analog conversion…
Are you sequencing the S900 with the OT?

I love the vibe of this. Can you PM it to me as well?
What were you using the OT for?
Sounds wicked, nice work.
I also like your minimal stuff very much. With less things you create a big vibe.
As listened yesterday I thought you have developed a very personal sound.
And this track is the best of all I heard until now.
Wow, thank you all for nice feedback
@Barfunkel
I just use it as a 2-channel-recorder for my mixer. Nothing really fancy, the tapedeck is a fisher standard studio model which I bought at a thrift store for 5€, so you won’t need anything special I think. The s900 definitly plays a big role in terms of the smoothness! I’m stunned by it’s warm and round sound. The tape is more for the overall compression and “analogness”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1bn-Auhlv0 In this video I use the very digital sounding MicroWave2 for the main synth parts and the track is overall more “sharp”, so you can maybe hear a difference. But what I really like about the whole tape deck thing is that you finish tracks! You just don’t waste your time searching for the “perfect” eq settings and reverb wetness, just play a little around on your OT and hit record.
@Diapause
Thanks! I will send a download link in the next couple days, I’m a little busy because of uni at the moment.
@RyanElektric
In my opinion the s900/950 has a good and simple approach for sampling and sample managment! My aim for the future is to let the s900 play all drum samples and use the OT just as a MIDI sequencer and for other samples like loops or vocal chops.
@jamrod
The OT played the vocal sample, hihats and the quiet snare. PM should be there in the next few days
@FmSafari
Thank you very much
Thats a big compliment!
I wish I could find a nice deck that cheap here in Finland. Unfortunately, hipsters have driven the costs of cassette decks quite high. They used to be cheap, nowadays they are like 100+ euros. A really high quality deck such as a Nakamichi Dragon can be over a 1000 euros.
The one (an Akai GXC-570D) I’ve been eyeing for a month now is 400 euros. I’m not sure if I’ll be getting it, although it’s just so damn pretty that I find it very hard to resist, even though I have more important things to buy than a 40 years old casssette deck.

Hello joostoftoday1
I am a bit curious why do you use Alesis 3630 as comp?
@Barfunkel
Check Los Angeles Craigs List if you want a vintage tape recorder- it’s flooded.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/search/msa?query=tape+recorder&zoomToPosting=&minAsk=&maxAsk=
I’m already sending an Ensoniq SQ-80 and an SD-1 to Sweeden tomorrow for a friend- let me know if you want anything and I’ll just send you a bill for the shipping and item cost.
Seriously. LA Craig’s List is a gear gold mine.

This is quality music !
Your efforts are appreciated.
Nice work.
@teevee
Basiclly because its my only compressor and I bought it for the cheap “pumping” french-house sound. I use it on the OT outputs for the snare, hihats and vocals
@Bm1600
Thanks man
@vardagligheten
Thank you, I like your music too!
