OT + A4 connection

I’m quite new with the Octatrack, but I’ve read something about OT velocity here:

Use external midi keyboard to play OT

I’ve been wondering if I could use my AKAI MPK25 to play some OT track. Advantage: MPK has 2 octaves and velocity. I’m aware of the step by step MIDI in approach, but that’s not what I want. I couldn’t find anything in the manual. Thanks for your suggestions

I use QuNexus with A4 right now.

yes with the new multi-map it’s possible to setup midi notes to trigger patterns

How are people routing the audio? A4 outs > Octa ins, or Octa outs > A4 ins?

What are the pros and cons of each? You lose a voice using Thru on the Octa: Is the same true for incoming audio on the A4?

Also if you enable ‘receive program change’ on the A4 and ‘send program change’ on OT the A4 will automatically switch patterns when you switch pattern on the OT. This requires consistent pattern number matching - i.e. A01 on OT will always cause pattern A01 on A4 to play.

Not sure if this is what you want to do but pretty easy to set up. Might mean having to duplicate patterns on one or both machines if you want to mix and match diff OT patterns with different A4 patterns though.
