OS Upgrade: Digitakt II 1.15

the new slice machine is great, but it’s so sad that trigless p-locks aren’t working when triggered externally via midi. It’s such a shame cause the digitakt is such an awesome drum brain…
strange thing is that when you press a trigless trig it is working when triggered externally… puh, that bothers me so much cause you could prepared patterns for a whole set, but all played live… In my opinion Elektron should think a bit more about playing their boxes as instruments not only relying on sequencing…

Man, I’m seriously considering the Digitakt 2 now. If it had the voice sharing, chord mode and arp features of the Digitone 2, I would not hesitate for a second.

when using FUNC + an encoder to set the start/end points of the slice at a zero crossing point, does it also only apply to the left channel if the sample is stereo?

Same. It wasn’t even on my radar but it’s got me side eyeing my MPC for the second time.

i honestly didn’t think manual slicing would change all that much for me, but it really has

something about it unlocked other facets of the dt2 workflow and i find myself using the other functionality (trig modes, new trig conditions, etc) in ways that i wasn’t before

slicing can be boring/tedious on the computer and other devices but on the dt2 it’s fun as hell and it makes me sound a lot better than i am

can’t imagine life without it at this point

Dude have you tried using the menu which selects which tracks are affected or not affected by control-all? So powerful! So nice to exclude basslines and vocal tracks from control-all and throw just the drum parts to the delay all at once, then snap back with a reload. I’ve been jamming all morning with the new machine, I already can’t imagine going back. Slicing up a bunch of vocal samples from N64 games and recording them in live. Crazy fun and so much easier than dropping trigs and locking the start and end points.

I think you can workaround this by going to a step and change the slice number. Ezbot did a video on this. You trig the steps, and then select the slice. A bit clumsy but seems to work.

Perhaps someone covered this already (apologies TLDR). Is it possible to lock selected sequencer trigs and apply random locks to remaining unlocked seq trigs?

Interesting.

Does this mean I can stop manually changing the starting point and ending point on each step when manually stretching a break across 16 or 32 steps?!

Anyone else having issues buying the latest Soundpack from the Elektron Store? I tap the PayPal button and it kicks me back to the User Info page.

Isn’t there a time issue here? As in if the sequence isn’t already laid down with trigs, the DT can’t calculate the locks in realtime for an external sequence?
Pure speculation on my part.

So, I got the ‘Faulty Samples Found’ message. :sob:

Why does this happen?

How do I fix it? It says ‘Please Update’ Transfer’ — but I am using the latest version 1.9.5.

Thankfully, I backed up before doing the update. How do I fix it?

Yah, pressing the NO button working for me, after several failed restart attempts.

Hopefully nothing is wrong with my ‘faulty’ samples?!!?!

:face_with_monocle:

Yes it’s using the left channel for zero-crossing points in the editor too.

Indeed there is no recent update to Transfer.
To resolve this issue I had to go through the following steps :
Turn off your machine. Turn is back on while pressing the Func button to reach the boot menu.
From there, select Empty reset.
Turn off and on again, you’ll get the same error message but now able to move passed it by pressing No (or probably any other button).
Double check at this point that you have backed up your projects and samples. Now press the gear button to reach Settings, System, and Format the +Drive, selecting samples.
Once the formatting is done, restart the machine and you should no longer get the error. You can now load your samples back using Transfer.
