In my own attempt at this challenge I will probably use LFO’s to create a Motorik bass line. ARPs for synthesized hi hats and kicks. Long sweeping LFO modulations on drones.
Some trigs may have conditions to create variation
For sure
Something else that would be fun is to have the OT arp modulate a handful of notes and LFO’s
Triggering other things.
If you had two OT’s you could do some wild stuff with them cross talking to each other.
It certainly feels like an elektron-centric breif, but thats ok.
I’ll try to join this one. I have been messing around with my modular stuff lately, using LFOs to generate melodies, no sequencers etc.
I’m just using the “trig” talk because it’s the best way for me to explain the limitation.
It was more in a modular scenario when considering the essence of the challenge.
Definitely Roland System 100 Human League inspired.
Does it change the feel for you if I change the wording to “step” instead of “trig”?
Yeah I was drawing a blank on the other terminology.
A “step” is definitely another way to say it.
Trigless Trigs?
Okay…. So if I want to use a Stepless Step…
….psych.
Step/trig is fine.
Definitely an advantage if using elektron gear with trig conditions, retrigs etc.
Not a problem.
Anyway I’m going to have a go, and not use my elektron gear (octatrack would be too easy)
Trigless Steps, only 1 per sequencer
If someone has a Cirklon there’s also advantages.
I mentioned Bomes too.
Essentially you could structure an entire song translating 1 note to everything
If someone wanted to they could use a gazzilion clips in Ableton. That falls within the rules.
Yet that would in many ways bypass the true essence of using arp or lfos to achieve such things.
Oh, so ARP means enabling arp and setting octave range and pressing a note. Not repeating degrees of a chord.
And not to get in the weeds too much, the LFO, can it be set to trigger? Like a hi hat trigger by sample and hold.
What about FXs like Delay or Reverb?
You have the freedom to be creative as you want within the stated rules up top.
We did not detail it out too much to offer plenty of creative flexibility.
Of course
Don’t have an arp, but I’ve used a combination of retrig, LFOs and delay on M:S to make this one. One trig on each track.
Just a bit of a thought experiment really to see how it works. will enter something a bit more complete hopefully.
Sorry, one entry per participant. ![]()
Nice experiment, you might win, you never know.
This sounds like a task for A4, DN and ST.
What about patterns? If I’m using one trig per track and I’d like to switch notes used, are pattern changes acceptable for melodic variation?
