I’m currently looking for new ways to inspire music making. So I booted up a new project on the XY and sampled myself singing gibberish without any backing music, freeform. I then sliced it up and made a sequence and based on that sequence I started playing in chords and melodic lines.

It was a really inspiring way of starting a song because I don’t really now in which direction it will go.

The synth sounds are from Prophet Rev-2 and Grandmother, drums from the XY

Anyone else getting bursts of distortion at the end of their internal mic recordings? I didn’t have this pre recent update …. Maybe it’s a sign of having too many samples loaded onto the unit. Sampling from usb and line in is fine.

Incredibly basic question coming up…

I’ve been using the stock XY presets & samples since launch - recently started sampling via USBC.
Is the drum sampler formatting of the OPXY the same as the OP1? From memory this was formatted so that a drum kit was one long audio file containing all the samples within the kit.

Would love to use some of the presets from OP1.fun on the XY!

No. Each sample slot (key) is its own individual sample.

Bug in 1.0.40:

The sustain loops of some factory multisamples (e. g. dark choir) are broken since 1.0.40. This does not happen to my own multisamples.

Reported to TE.

Here’s a video of my issue … anyone else experiencing on firmware 1.0.40? Any ideas of the cause?

Just did a test, but no distortion at the end of the recording. (firmware 1.0.40)

Thanks for checking; do you have many samples loaded on the OP-XY? I’m wondering if it’s to do with corruption with file size etc.

No, not so many

Would love to know what frequencies the master eq is working at and what the curves etc look like. to my ear up-ing the low end makes the mix sound muddy, but when I boost the low band on my mixer (presonus ar8c) the bass is punchy, louder and more powerful. I mix quite precisely on the device so wouldn’t expect it to muddy as much as it does with the master eq.

Next bug in 1.0.40:

With armed recording, the OP-XY records the first note but does not play it back during the first pass. After 6 months, TE should have basics like this under control.

Are there any good more experimental sounscapy videos already of the op-Xy?

Haven’t looked for that kind of thing but might be worth seeing what’s out there for the opz already as there’s a lot more content for that. Safe to say what can be done on opz can be done on xy

How do you guys get samples on this thing? No matter what I do I always get the message that the operation cannot be completed because the required items can’t be found. I have tried every sample folder in my library and results are always the same. They are all .wav files and I have no problem with any other samplers or ableton. I have updated to latest firmware on op-xy. I’m at my wits end lol.

Anyone else notice that the tuning menu (in preset settings) doesn’t seem to do anything?

I’ve not played with it before so I might not be fully understanding it. But, non of the presets or user tunings seem to work…

Check the manual, the XY is picky about how samples are named and organized. There’s certain characters you can’t use and samples can only be nested one folder deep. I think there’s a max limit of samples too.

Sorry, traveling and can’t get the manual to load due to bad cell signal or id look up the specifics for you.
