Hey fam, for all the OP-1 heads out there the OP-1 makes a cool controller for the RYTM. Put the OP-1 in Midi Mode and Press shift+turn Green Knob to change midi channel. This makes it REALLY easy to put RYTM in chromatic mode and just scroll quickly through the sounds. Otherwise I’ve found using other methods constantly switching midi channel per sound very tedious. This makes it intuitive. Hope someone gives it a go and enjoys this technique.
How are you connecting your OP-1 to the Rytm for MIDI control?
OP-1->OPLab->RYTM(MIDI)
But OP-1->Computer->RYTM(MIDI) should work fine too I think.
Lol accidental emoticons.
I knew of these options. Just wanted to see if there were any other tricks out there. I had it hooked up via a USB hub to an iPad just to test MIDI sync. I believe the USB hub was introducing a random click into the audio of the OP-1 as it was providing power. The USB hub was necessary as the iPad couldn’t “provide enough power” to it as an external device, even though it needs none.
It would be great to get regular MIDI jacks plugged into the OP-1 without the need for the OPLab, which is grossly over priced for that sole purpose alone. A solution like what the Arturia Beatstep uses would be great, but it’s not built in. Kenton makes a piece that would work… but again, more extra stuff…
