Yeah, and it takes me back to my days (1980s) of actually recording on tape ā when you needed to really learn how to play the part and you needed to know what you were making when making it.

Yeah! I find myself going way deeper with an Op-1f than with the elektron stuff. Love being able to overdub in a way thatās messy and doesnāt always make sense vs perfect sequencing and yrying to remember what parameter Iām locking.
I love that it can be a wacky sfx machine, a lo fi piano or a little beat monster. Way prefer it to my elektron stuff (though I love the individual outs and deeper individual sound design and precision of the elektron stuff)

Pretty interesting that it has a somewhat adjacent effect on me as well. Iāve never had the pleasure of playing with tape, and I like this workflow to the point where I keep checking out old recorders because this makes me want to try out the real thing. Iāve gotten dangerously close to pulling the trigger a few times now.
A good compromise to buying a tape-based recorder and hassling with refurbishing it (says the guy who hasnāt but suffers similar temptations!) is a Tascam PocketStudio. They are the memory-card successor to the PortaStudio, and Iāve found them to be quite rewarding to use when multi-tracking longer pieces, especially drone pieces.
But I love my OP-1F for the reasons others have said ā the built-in tape recording is the beeās knees.

another really big one after the undo would be an option for individual loop lengths per track 
it could be integrated by acting just like now (first track recording, looping that section, the other tracks have the same loop window) and additionally you can then set the loop start/end points per track by clicking one of the knobs to change between fixed/free.
so experimental

I think the only thing left i really desperately want personally is a filter with dedicated envelope ala the OP-XY on the synth and drum engines. Bonus points for routing options post and pre fx 
the effects on the field sound so good, but many of the synths also require a filter, and taking up the FX slot with punch takes away a huge sound design potential

Iāve been asking of this since day one. The best answer I got was that they could make a new tape variant that implements thisā¦ donāt know when or if it will ever be implemented though.

what kind of tape could that be? it doesnāt need to be another type as it wouldnāt interfere with the actual workflow, it would only expand on it.
would be great to just click a knob to switch between all tracks/individual tracks 
Yeah the tape still needs improvements. I submitted a feature request to Teenage Engineering support for eight scenes in Tape/Mixer mode more than a year ago and revisited the concept in late spring.
The OP-1 Fieldās single global loop and main settings are still a significant limitation. My idea is that each scene (bound to 1-8 buttons) would store its own tape loop, tempo, and Mixer settings, including EQ, Main FX, drive, and other relevant parameters.
On one hand, this could also provide the long-requested tape bookmark functionality. On the other, it would make it much easier to manage multiple projects on a single tape, or to compose and arrange songs with tempo and time-signature changes while using different mixing settings for each section.
Just re-bought an OP-1 F five weeks ago and now they bring out a 30% off offer?! 30% off that is a serious chunk, could have saved myself around Ā£500
