Can anyone share how to get the best price for the OP1 Field? I’ve come to grips with spending that much money but just want to get the best price possible. Seems like 10-15% off for signing up for email lists etc is pretty much the only way to go. Thanks in advance.
you can try asking for a $1500 price at B&H from what I hear.
I’ll give that a try, thanks m.
Thank you!! Yes you are right this is just an OP-1 type beat then
Thank you! Not even the gunshot sound?
Plenty come up second hand, I got one like new with the TE soft case for £1350 on Reverb.
Crazy price! We don’t have such good deals in France
There’s one on there right now for less than $900 CDN but it’s from Taiwan and I feel a little sketched out about it, no selling history and generally just feels too good to be true.
Yes, definitely some red flags here
Please do some digging on those Reverb listings that look just a bit too good. I have been seeing tons of OP1F listings for sub 1k and each one has zero feedback entries. Dangerous stuff for folks like me that tend to peruse the newly listed stuff in the eve with an adult beverage or two.
But do keep an eye out for good listings as I think it is one of those items that people snatch up without knowing if they will enjoy it or not.
Mine was $1550 on Reverb US.
Worth every penny in my opinion. Sampling the Moog One and Prophet 5 produces such a high quality recording, it almost sounds like the real thing.
I do wish there was more than 6 seconds to work with though.
The synth sampler algorithms are outstanding and the overall sound of the OP-1 Field is incredible.
If anyone wants a few samples let me know.
I just did this on B+H and within 20 minutes they sent me a code for $500 USD off the Field. Thanks so much. Up here in Canada it is $2759 + 13% tax. Saved me almost $1000 CAD (about $750 USD). Again, thanks. Looking forward to receiving it.
You just email them and ask for it for $1500 ?
Call them.
I just hit up their contact form on the website and asked for the $1500 price and they got back to me with a code that expires within 24 hours
Glad it worked out! Wish I’d known when I bought my field!
I thought it was every mention of the OP-1 Field across the internet?
But seriously, I get tired when people then trot out the price of the Field Desk… but when I boughty first pocket operator the other day (PO-20 Arcade) I noticed that shipping is free for all items except the $1699 field desk
Nah I love my OP-1 Field. Seriously my desert island synth. If I was going to be trapped in the wilderness for the rest of my days with only a single piece of gear, it would be the OP-1 Field and a USB-C solar panel.
I generally respect Dylan Paris’ perspective on this and he makes some valid points… but an MPC does nothing for me.
Step back for a moment… we’re creating music. The OP-1 Field works and processes in music. Audio. Sound. I’m not a guitarist but I’ll still play audio out of all sorts of instruments and synths, many have no midi. Midi is an incredibly useful but nonetheless artificial construct, as is sequencing. There is absolutely a place for it but it’s not the be all and end all. Remember in the 90’s when workstation keyboards couldn’t record audio, no sampling or hardly no sampling. Four stereo 6 minute tracks would’ve been insanely amazing back then, with overdubbing! You can keep layering audio layer upon layer on a single track.
Same! I am doing at least 30 mn of OP-1 field everyday before going to sleep. And after a week I have kind of a song that I can fine tune in Ableton the weekend (4 individual tracks + album mode)
Sometimes making music with the op-1f feels like painting on a canvas. Errors or imperfections have to be embraced and can turn into beautiful things if you just go with it. Making music in a DAW or with a MIDI-based sequencer feels completely different as every element is free to be changed until the very end, so it’s more like using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. Both approaches can yield cool results, but I like the op-1f so much as it nudges me into the habit of just going with the flow.
I feel the same way about the tape approach. The only thing that I couldn‘t deal with was that having only 4 tracks available forced me to combine different parts of a song which I couldn’t entangle later on for mixing in Ableton. If only the OP-1 had 8 tracks with Reverb/Delay sends per track it would be my dream machine…
