OP-1 field

Definitely not cheap unless you already have it, but OP-Z+Line Module works great for this

Check out the Retrokits RK-006. I think it’ll do what you want.

haha oh oh, gonna need that op-z now. oplab module should be fine too right?

thanks I believe so too. however, RK-006 needs (usb) power too. and then from op-1 field, to a OTG splitter → to the RK-006, and then another cable to the device I want to control with midi keyboard. Its doable (and brings other things to the table), but not very tidy/clean

someon

very cool option! if the synth has midi in/out DIN though.
for example I’d like to play the nanobox lemondrop, a synth that only has midi TRS in…

With USB-C on the field you may not need an otg cable, splitter, and battery. I think.

well probably the OP-1 field could power the RK-006 you’re right!
will need a usb-c to usb-a (or microusb) adapter though, but that might be it

i use a Widi BLE dongle to sequence Octatrack MnM and similar directly from the OP-1F.
Super simple to set up and i have not had a single problem doing so…

the only downside is that there is no Clock over BLE… so i only use it to Sequence and play the other synths and not to clock a sequencer.

thanks! good suggestions!

I can attest that this works. OP-1 field can power RK006. As a bonus, you can define channel filters and other simple MIDI transformations on the RK006.

This one?

No, this one from CME

But your suggestion most probably works as well

Another one made entirely on the Field, with some Chase Bliss boxes for resampling (well, the Mood). I recorded slices of voices and conversations I’d heard throughout the day and used those as textures. Made me think of the days when I was young and listened to Jarre’s Zoolook all the time

That“s awesome! I have the Cabasia field edition. Metal enclosure, electric, LED light and a better screen. You can see the grains way better. It“s a bit noisy, but it works great. It cost twice as much, but I think, it“s worth (though, the button is a bit wobbly). I already sampled one good sound.

Omg, I think TE have finally lost their focus as a company. You could have so many other flavours and spices for that price. Only one condiment at a time and no undo button?! It’s 2022, who the hell would buy that if you can easily get the better results with pre-ground condiments?

Answer from TE regarding usb audio compability

We can’t expect it to work with Elektron devices unfortunately

This makes sense, so unless you have an interface that can be set to a 44.1 sample rate standalone, you’re out of luck.

but you still can send midi over usb to elektron devices, just not audio, right?
