Where did you get this info?
actually as someone whoâs worked filming/documenting the fleece manufacturing process for supremeâs supplier here in Canada, i can tell you its a bit more complex than that
and the prices are actually more or less the same as what Elektron charges for their tshirts and sweaters, the crazy prices are set by resellers
thinking about it after seeing this evolution of the OP-1
I just want the aluminium body tbh
thatâs a bunch of unfair comparisons though
put the OG iphone against the current mini and itâs about the same
put an MBP vs a Razor or a top-line Thinkpad and such, upgrades also â theyâre about on par (but arguably Mac is much more use value, and def. more resale value plus longevity)
even less sense in comparing Apple mass production to niche devices like TE. itâs not about whose price is more justified, itâs about completely diff. markets and strategies
on a side note, people often donât even get what the âdesignâ thing is all about. Jony Ive is genius (or say softer, an innovator) not for the minimalist looking surfaces at all. and itâs never been a âform over functionâ either. and again, itâs a different game and playfield completely with what small companies like TE aim for or achieve.
the graphics and other functions would be dope as a new update for the OG, different tapes etc.
I thought about the motor faders for the Z as I was moving my op-z near a magnet and they were moving.
@MichaalHell Are there any changes when hooking it up to the OP-Z via MIDI? I like to sequence the OP-1âs drum/slicer sampler from the OP-Z.
For ordering this I donât consider myself superior. A fool, probably and accepted to a degree. But for me personally the Op-1 has been the most fun and inspiring machine Iâve used in over 30 years.
A bereavement took me down an unexpected path and changed my whole outlook on life. And the Op-1 has helped to transform my experience and joy of music creation.
The thing is, the new Op-1 doesnât changed that in anyway. The originals are all I need, but I simply want to continue enjoying the evolution of the Op.
Iâm grateful and blessed that I could order it, even though financially I shouldnât (as an ex bankrupt)
I was being a bit facetious - I know they donât just âslap a logoâ on a hat, and the cost is predominantly driven by the resale market/artificial scarcity.
The OP-1 Field is a premium product with an uber-premium price tag. I think my point was more so that the comparison between TE/Supreme is a bit of a stretch, even though I find their accessory pricing to be absurd.
incredible work and still the OP1.
itâs like 2011 for me right now. when I bought the future music magazine with the only available printed review of the OG Op-1.
bought it a year later on Black Friday for 674⏠brand new! it was the only official deal on the OP1 for the last decade.

The price will certainly keep them rare, desirable and elite (TE makes the âRolexâ of Synths) but if they had built in all of the OP-Z functionality in to this it could have been amazing with the tape and a powerful step sequencer. I cant imagen using an OP1 and an OPZ and a MixerâŚother than costing the same as a car, defeats the portability promised by the size
I donât know actually⌠Iâm very Illadvised in regards to daw
I didnât mean to speak of all people, everyone has different circumstances and for some users it might be worth it, I expressed this further up the thread and it grated on me a bit when the response I got was the implication that Iâm poor. didnât mean to come off as a dick and I hope you enjoy your new unit. I just hope that TE delivers on quality for people who do decide itâs their thing
Shouldnât be a problem⌠you can even sequence it via BLE⌠it just doesnât transmit midi clock over BLE yet
Ridiculous price. Also a leather cover for it is 250 bucks, lol. You could get a macbook pro for the price of this and still have a few hundred left over for an interface and beer.
Fuck! I didnât budget for beers tooâŚ(cancels order)
Iâm never offended.
And I always appreciated a balanced view and a reality check, even if it gets a bit saucy.
I personally want one very, very much. OP-1 would be my perfect device, if it had exactly what the field adds. But I will not order right now. I intend to wait at least a year, because I got burnt with OP-Z quality issues. So will definitely not test run this one.
Iâm just thrilled that I bought an OP-1 during the anniversary pricing, played with it for a few months, realized I prefer sequencing to looping, and sold it two weeks ago for what I paid for it.
I feel a bit sorry for the guy who bought it, though.
