I did this EP a few years back using only a TR-707 and a MC-202, of course using multiple tracks of each and effects, but those two were the only sound source allowed. I actualy composed and recorded the whole thing in a week end, I always find it is very inspiring to compose or jam with a very limited set of gear, even if it is for further manipulations or overdub later.

DN+OT has been my favourite for a while (but you said only one Elektron)
A4+AR is an obvious killer combo (but you said only one Elektron)
DN+ND3P is something I have tried, but honestly better as a 3some with DN+OT+ND3P. Although you can sequence the ND3P on one global track, I prefer a track per channel.
I bought the ND3p cos it is so much cheaper, but I guess for size a DN+ND2 would be a great pairing.

Next year I have vague plans of doing some live stuff with a a compact rig of Digitakt+SH01A+micromonsta. But if I had to pick just two I’d go DT+Micromonsta, I think, I could get a lot done with just those two.
