One shot trigs

So…you’re right avantronica about the clunky situation in regards of multiple functions trig…anyway…

…going literally with the manual (since i dont know special versions of the combo and, especially because i stiil dont program too much with OT and i need more finger practice…)

GRID RECORDING mode

put a blank TRIG

TRANSFORM IT IN A TRIGLESS TRIG (the one that triggers Env and Lfo)

press the TRIG + NO

TRANSFORM IT IN A TRIGLESS LOCK (the one that doesn’t trigger anything)

keep pressed the full green TRIG + NO

TRANSFORM IT BACK TO NORMAL TRIG

press the TRIG

TRANSFORM IT TO A ONE SHOT

press FUNCT+ TRIG

ARM THE ONE SHOT

described methods in the manual (depending also from menus)
press the TRIG (it will go full yellow when ARMED)
[if you have other oneshots this pressing will arm them too…it is equally like pressing YES]****i think this is not in the manual…

Then, if you want to DISARM you press NO

TRANSORM THE ONE SHOT BACK TO A NORMAL TRIG
while the trig is ARMED

press the TRIG
it’ll get full red.

PLACE A TRIGLESS LOCK (the one that doesn’t trigger anything)

press FUNCT + blank TRIG

It’s like layers of functions…and the path is not always straight…
but with a bit of practice the usefulness of those will be easier achievable

when you tend to work and test with short tracks the one shot trigs always go inactive pretty quickly
my method was to replicate the one shot enabling combo - ie Fn+Trig, then just Trig again
I still do NOT understand the reason why i can only have one One shot per track that does something, I know how to arm a track, the trigs go full yellow but when one is passed they both go out
i also know that i can hold the Fn+Yes, i just don’t get the logic, yet !!

shame that muting a selection of trigs is a pain tho

For me it showed how oneshots are incredible fun for fast jamming or to make a 1 bar pattern interesting at every pass

yeah - i just meant that when you arm a track all one shots get disarmed as soon as it passes the first one - you have to hold in the Arm Track combo to get them all to play - you therefore can’t arm once for multiple one shots !!

I’m confuuuuuused with our chat now - I thought that converting a spent One Shot to a Trig would be simpler (not in manual)- simpler than this…
Fn + Trig, then Trig again
You suggested arming track and Then Just hitting Trig, I think that’s better
PLUS
if you release Fn after you arm track with Fn+Yes, you can keep ALL the oneshots armed and turn them all back to TRIGS, this is quite quick, and handy as a way to drop samples out from time to time and bring 'em all back in - thanks (i don’t think that or the Hold Yes tip are in the manual, not that i’ve read every last word)

no i mean that if you hit a oneshot in Grid mode it will activate all the other oneshots (if any)

but keeping it pressed doesn’t keep arming. Just the FUNCT+YES or only YES (if activated)

this function doesnt stick alot with me, i would prefer that hitting a oneshot would arm only that specific trig…not all the oneshots!

Your tip about keeping the track armed continuosly while bringing bck some normal trig is awesome! thanks!!

has anyone gotten the “hold yes” functionality to work for individual tracks via MIDI? I tried momentary and toggle buttons (nanokontrol) and had to press it again either way to get the next one shot to arm, rather than it continuously arming all one shots on that track until releasing the button.

That “hold yes” trick sounds interesting! I’m using different patterns with normal trigs and pattern changes synced to 4/16 for the same purpose (some with trigs and some without). The OT is flexible enough so that one can choose his favorite of different button combinations to achieve the same results.

nah, doesn’t seem to work that way, there is only one midi message sent, there is no held state, the button obviously does hold the Yes state, but via midi it seems to be impossible, it would need to latch via midi, it only send a CC52 value of 1, Elektron would have to extend the midi side to replicate this- i’d like to see that too !

yep - i’m a bit noob on the OT but i’ve found a few gaps i’d sooner have seen filled, like remote stop for each track and not just start

If you have an ipad and lemur, kraftf’s OT template sends out the cc continuously to keep re-arming the one shots…me likey.

aha, that’s one way to do it think i grabbed that template but didn’t try it out yet - curious to see how continuously, should probably try to refresh every few midi ticks, so it updates between Trigs - good ingenuity, Lemur is ideal for this kinda scripting !

I figured I put this here instead of a new thread:

I used one shot trigs for the first time last night and things went a little buggy…

When I went to turn a couple trigs into one shots nothing happened. I tried 6 or 7 times and there was no color change in the LED. I assumed I was doing something wrong and re-read the manual…nope!..I was doing it right.

I tried several more times and eventually the function began working. Now it seems to work fine (though occasionally I have to do the function+trig a couple time to get it to work)…

Has anyone else had issues getting one-shot trigs to work?
Multiple tries to get them to engage?

I don’t feel anything weird with the buttons or anything…it just seems to not recognize the function immediately everytime (and especially not the first time I tried it).

FWIW I have never had this issue with regular trigs or trigless trigs…they have always worked immediately.

Should I be worried?
I’d hate to have to send it (my second OT) back.

this behavior happens to me with one shot recorder trigs all the time

I hit fn+enter/yes and it doesn’t re-arm, I hit track+enter/yes and it doesn’t re-arm

if I do it enough times it will eventually re-arm, frustrating

I do have the yes/enter only option turned off, so maybe that has something to do with the bug. However, I want that option off, it’s too easy to accidentally arm/dis-arm triggers with just yes/no instead of the fn requirement

If you’re referring to me rather than subq:

1)In grid record mode

2)Regular trig placed on step one…working with no problems…

3)holding down ‘Function’ and then pressing the trig previously placed on step one

trig continues to show red LED and does not turn to yellow (indicating one shot) until several presses of trig (while hold ‘Function’)

5)this problem was chronic (possibly a dozen ‘presses’ until it worked) upon my first attempt at placing a one shot (as in, first time ever using a one shot since I’ve had my OT)

6)problem is now sporadic…sometimes it works on a single press…sometimes it takes a few presses to get it to change (to a one shot)

again…I have never had a problem placing a regular trig or a trigless trig previously …so it doesn’t seem like a bad button or anything

also…it seems to be worse on the the first three trig buttons…but this may be coincidental
