That’s a nice idea… Might give it a try.
(Nils feverishly searching for Ess’ Werkstoffe track)
I’ll have a crack or two if I can.
Stupid question while talking limitations: Single track poly or mono?
Here’s my first attempt, using a single sample of birdsong recorded from inside my leaking porch on a bad mic, placed on my DT1, and then worked on one track and arranged in song mode before being recorded into Ableton.
good question, i think if it’s all on one sequencer lane on one track its allowed
ah the good old dt1…
Here’s a quick impro on A4 FX track.

Beware with the high delay feedback!!!
Make sure you have a low master volume at first, possibly a compressor or limiter behind just in case.
Nice! Delay self-oscillation?
Thx.
Yes, and chorus self-oscillation as well (I like the sound of A4 chorus with full feedback)
I plocked different values for the delay filter, and sometimes use the delay with very short time (the resonating bass) or with max value so that it works as a 4-bar sampler.
Oh, and I used the LFOs as envelopes (TRIG or ONE + EXP shape with different MULT settings, usually 16)
Interesting how you get different timbres from p-locking the delay filter. I might borrow your trick in the Syntakt
(don’t own an A4)
this excellent!
wait, the delay can self-oscillate on A4? no input whatsoever? I couldn’t get the rytm delay to self-oscillate full feedback full drive, always had to send something into it
Nice challenge!
digitone
I indeed had some moments when it would self-oscillate from nothing, other where it wouldn’t, even with filter full open (HP min and LP max), both OD and both delay and chorus feedback to max… .
The initial burst on this track is me starting and stopping the sequencer where I had set all my plocks.
With all the settings set to eleven, a very small glitch brings the mayhem.
So yeah, no clue why sometimes it would start from nothing, and sometimes not.
yeah that’s exactly what happens with the rytm too, I suspect that it’s not really self-oscillating, there has to be something in the buffer, I think that when you power up the device or do partial stop something goes inside the buffer and if it lives long enough you can drive it further with the feedback, but if you full stop and try to self-oscillate - not going to happen.
yes many times. My Virus and Rytm excel in these things. Especially since Virus TI2 can be a complete album generating machine.
wow digitone sounds lovely
Yeah, maybe…
Don’t forget that A4 Delay is fed with a ringing Chorus ^^
But maybe indeed there was something in the buffer that remained…
For the Rytm, can’t you put the Delay after the distorsion, so that you can have some noise as input?
This challenge with the Rytm FX track should be nuts.
