One sample, two different gain settings?

(i may be too dense to find this in the manual, so if it’s someplace obvious please point me to it.)

i’ve got a sample saved to my audio pool and loaded into a static slot on my project. i’m currently using it on a couple of patterns.

now i want to use it in another pattern, but this time i want to use it with a different gain setting (which i typically access by hitting track+bank, enter edit menu, then using the ATTR and FILE submenus). i am worried that if i adjust the gain setting under ATTR and then save it under FILE, the sample will play with a different gain setting not only on the new pattern, but on the old ones as well.

i can’t figure out whether putting the sample into a new slot and saving it there with this new gain parameter will affect the version in the audio pool, the one in the given slot, or what.

in any case, is there an easy way around this? how can i use the same sample with two different gain settings?

The gain settings are recorded in the audio pool if you set it under ATTR and save it. So, the only possibility to do what you want, if I don’t make mistakes, is to use different parts. Or you can also set the sample volume by p-lock directly in the pattern. I usually do it that way.

I’d either plock the amp volume or save it as a new file in the editor with different gain settings.
