I know exactly how you feel…when I first fired up my A4 I was stunned by the sound as well…it’s funny how widespread opinion runs on its sound…some love it, others, not so much. Hard to figure, it really has a great sound to my ears.
First time i tried the delay into the reverb, I fell in love with it too. Perfect dub techno machine ! It’s got a sound that’s alive, deep, organic, and evocative. And coupled with the sequencer, p-locks and sound locks, it become an incredibly inspiring machine.
Enjoy
Congratulations - enjoy your new baby, and don´t forget to go to sleep
It is easily and by far the most impressive piece of hardware that I’ve ever had.
Congratulations Elektron!
Just received my A4 two days ago too. Haven’t even read the manual yet and I feel like I don’t even need to, the UI is so well designed, at least for someone coming from a Monomachine background.
The sound is indeed lovely and I frankly don’t understand how some people can dislike it. ;aybe they’re expecting it to sound like a Minimoog, 303 or some other synth and don’t even try to appreciate it for what it is.
I’ve never owned (or even tried) most of the famous vintage synths, but it really is the best sounding synth I’ve personally ever owned. That, plus it has a truly awesome sequencer and great FX, so what’s not to like?
It definitely has its sound. I have a slim phatty in a rack with the electron which i use for all my deep bass sounds. A4 gets used from anything sitting in the low mids upwards. i feel you can get a more ‘analog’ moving sound with the A4 because of its routing options.
Slim phatty is also great for getting that simian mobile disco/minilogue/jimmy edgar bleepy appregiator sound. Bit off subject but add a slim to the mix its the perfect combination! I like to blend patches from both synths playing the same thing with eq/filters in ableton, then use the fx on the a4 for the top end of the synth.
Received mine on Friday and I have been jamming out on and off getting a feel for the sonic capabilities. Very impressed, even though I have a bunch of other analog mono-synths. The sequencer/analog integration is as good as everyone has been claiming.
I just wish I had more than a few hours this weekend to play with it (hockey tryouts for my son = no time for myself, at least he made the team!)
A few days ago I quite literally drooled on my A4! It’s simply so good.
Fortunately, the drool didn’t damage anything.
Perhaps Elektron should provide an A4 “Drool Bib” with of course cool graphics that change colors from the warmth of the drool!!!
ehehehehehe
Looking forward to hearing some of your stuff with your new toy man:)
Cheers,
M.
