Octetrack: wild effect, like modular grain synth

So now i been doing more experementing… I’ll tru to explain:
I have one track, let call it 1, that samples the guitar (4 steps) everi 16th step, anothe track (2) replays a SHORT grain (minimal length and attack and replay step but enough to avoid clicks) every 9th step. (this is the reason I use diffrent tracks, so I can sample and playback on different scales).
I send track 2 to cue
THEN i have a Pickup machine (looper), track 3) that samples what is played on track 2, by listning to “cue”… then i have track 4 playing back a short grain of track 3, also every 9th step, this is also sent to cue, so that is also added to the loop.
I then set gain (feedback) of the loop so that it sound cool… I have the guitar playing though, anpther track 5 where I also can loop the guitar… but i don’t in the clip i have recorded.
SOO… one application of this is to input instrument or othe sound sorce to this… and you get a CRAzY modular syntish thing… like this: example with my guitar improvisation…

I have also done some pure grain evolutionary stuff… will post if someone is intersted.

I could also copy my project if anyone wants it…
I LOVE the OCTATRACK

Kudos to you. I’ve followed a similar path using the MD ram machines. :+1:

Very nice!

I would love to be able to try the project out myself, if you’d be willing to share it!

Cool!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Yes, please post more and share if you like!

This is sort of similar as the unfortunately few tries I´ve been doing with the OT, G2 Engine and FAS Axe…

(which you´ve already heard on my soundcloud, we´re “connected”)… :alien:

But I´m quite way behind you in the explorations with guitar and OT. I´m still to much of a newbie, so I´m trying to get a grip around the OT structure in my head by working “only” in the OT for some time now. Getting a bit brainmelt every now and then when realizing small chunks of the vast possibilities in the OT… arrghhh “my brain hurts”…

What´s on my to do list though (which maybe should be an collaborative effort?):

The OT effectology series, what can the OT “alone” nail compared to:

Personally, I´m first and foremost interested in getting an perspective of how much of a EHX HOG and/or EHX POG there actually is in the OT. Given the flexibility within the OT “rec”- and “play”-tracks, I think many of these sounds in the EHX pedals are possible to achieve in the OT either “normally” or by some nifty workarounds.

It will probably need some extra peripheral units, i e midi controller, to succeed. But I consider that as an necessity anyway. At least if you are an guitarist using the OT live…

A copy of your project? YES, PLEASE!!!

Also, yes, please post whatever you have on pure grain evolutionary stuff!

I would LOVE to grab a copy of your project, in fact, is there a project sharing thread? I would happily upload mine too…The crux of mine is an all realtime setup where everything is available from an empty pallete …it is a work in progress, but I might progess with more people adding ideas onto it.
