well after much deliberation ordered mine today!

Ah ! Congratulations ! Best piece of magic box you can find. Be patient with the learning curve, after, it’s pure gold
Ps : Don’t forget the Octaedit from Rusty, it will be available soon. More than 10 modules to control the OT…

Yes it took me a month to decide and fortunately during that month the price remained the same and the pound climbed a lot which spurred me on. i got distracted looking at the electribe 2 sampler but as it was almost half the price of the octatrack plus x times more powerful I am guessing that the octatrack is the much better buy… now have to wait for shipping from germany.

Don’t freak out when it arrives and you’re pulling your hair out for weeks (months?!). There are a lot of helpful guys on the forum so ask questions. Keep it simple to begin with and be patient. In time you will learn that the OT is something to cherish.

Welcome aboard. Well, welcome aboard when it rocks up

Stuff, things, RTFM, youtubes, merlins guide, more stuff, moonbeams, ask questions, bunny rabbits, here to help.

i ´ve got the OT for some years now. lost a lot of hair (can´t remember if i pulled them out myself)
everything will be fine.
OctaEdit will come !

For sure I will need your help but when i do it would be after I have checked the manual and looked online. Sometimes I dont know the right phrase to search for but well thats learning. It will arrive tomorrow so something to look forward too.

Lots of the existing thtreads go way back to 2011 so I am guessing the OT os is well matured now.

I am a beginner but extremely lucky to have a number of hardware synths already so looking forward to the octatracks sequencing ability.

I am sure the sampling will be cool too, all in a all a busy week, OT coming + win 10 to screw all the drivers up, sub 37 editor due.

Read Merlin’s guide to get the party started.

aha yes I already found this and dutifully printed now BUT thank you.

my octatrack was delayed by a day but the courier will bring it today, getting excited now, its always great when a new toy arrives.

The “octatrack is hard to learn” is a bit overplayed I think… Just watch a lot of YouTube and you will be fine! For instant gratification buy some sample packs.

I have a lot of external synths, just reading the manual now and watching the elektron video tutorials. I have the latest firmware so thats one thing less to do. I shall not buy sample packs as I have a few external synths I can get some basic sample elements from.

Maybe when i can use the thing.

what sort of size cf card do you suggest I will need? it came with the 16 which I assume can hold quite a bit in itself, although i was looking at the kingston 64gb card.

doesnt that contradict itself?
hard to learn being overplayed
and
having to watch a lot of u toob vids

Personally, I’m finding that the MPC1000/JJOS is far more complicated than the Octatrack, but like anything, you have to put in the time to learn for it to become “easy”.

Depends on if you think watching videos is hard or not
Here is what I did.
Prior to buying the OT I watched a lot of videos and read the forum a lot. It’s quite expensive so I wanted to know what I was buying. It was also my first Elektron device. By the time I got my hands on it, watching all those videos, reading about it and being prepared with a nice sample library that i liked… It really wasn’t that hard to get going. It will take time to master, but the important thing is to get started and enjoying yourself. If you enjoy yourself, learning the rest wont be that bad
