Octatrack with a keyboard

Is it possible to do this with the octatrack

Short answer: yes, of course.

Longer answer: the OT have only a pitch range of 2 octaves, so it interprets only 24 notes sent to it as real notes. Notes outside the accepted range are used to trigger all kind of operations like start recording and similar things.

For details about the note to functionality mapping examine page 136 (C.1 NOTE MAPPING) in the manual.

Thanks

But Is the digitakt the same way?

The Digitakt has a pitch range of 4 octaves and it doesn’t have this function to note mapping for notes outside this range.

I’m not sure what it does when it receives notes which aren’t in its 4 octaves, but I guess it simply ignores them (as most machines do).

Update: There is one exception. The lowest 8 MIDI notes (note numbers 0-7) can be used to trigger the sounds of audio track 1-8 without sending them to different channels.
