Thanks for posting my video! I started on an MPC60II back in the day, then took a long break from music… after experimenting with modular synths for like 7 years, I jumped back into sampling world but wanted to find a sampler that I could carve my own sonic signature with and also be associated with… similar to how Pete Rock is associated with the sp1200, DJ Premier and the MPC’s, Madlib and DOOM with the sp404 etc. The OT is so open ended in design you can really approach it in a unique way.

My man, as someone who loves hip hop and also loves the OT, I can say that I loved your video and the beat you made on the OT (and I loved that you were visibly into it as well). Makes me want to use it for that music more too, I tend to use my OT as a sample mangler for harmonic & melodic content mainly. Also love the hip hop productions @JonMakesBeats makes on the OT, I think the device is well underrated in that regard.

My studio is in a rebuild right now so I’ve been having to work on projects in little ad hoc setups. The other day I needed a bit more drums and had already maxed out the octatrack so I dug out an xr20 and really liked it as a companion to the octatrack. I had a 1000 a decade+ ago but never used it outside of the most basic backbeat stuff. Kinda want to get another 1000 with JJOS and pad upgrades. Anyone have some favorite mpc1000 guides / YouTube vids etc

Might be basic for you depending on what you’re using it for but hopefully is useful.

MPC Forums is also good for tips and tricks etc., it’s not that active but it goes back a long way so you’ll probably be able to find whatever you need on there in some shape or form:
