Octatrack trim/loop point question

hey guys

so encountering a strange issue that hopefully has a v simple answer - when i go to trim a sample, and play it back to hear it using the track buttons, the sample doesnt play from the cursor, but a little bit behind

e.g. if im trying to cut a kick out of a drum loop, and have the cursor positioned where the hit starts, itll play from a few millisecs later (somewhere in the middle of the sound)

any pointers?

thanks in advance!

Check STRT parameter on the SRC page of the Track. It has to be set to 0 to play samples from the very beggining (trim start cursor).
Or Scene that is changing STRT.

thanks - just to check, by the SRC page do you mean the ‘playback’ page of the track where you can modulate pitch/start/end/etc?

basically this is a problem that occurs with samples that i’ve freshly recorded into a new project, and happens whilst im trimming them before ive even done any editing of things like start points etc - so i doubt it’d be the scene as i dont set them up til ive got a basic sketch down

Yes.

Is your trig mode “slices”? That got me a few times.

When in doubt, clear all page parameters by holding them and pressing clear. This can be done very quickly once you get the hang of it.

Also for some reason on OT Mk2 the playback button was renamed to SRC. Judging by your confusion you’re on the Mk1. Probably the only change that makes me scratch my head. All the other little changes have me gassing for one occasionally…

I thought about this too. In that case, selected slice is played (Start knob value, if no lfos), without taking account of Trim. If there is no slice, it plays according to Trim settings
