Octatrack transition trick without looping external input

Hey Octapros <3

I want to be able to do the OT Transition Trick without looping my M:C, that goes into Inputs A B.

I’m not using a thru machine for M:C, it’s just turned up A B Volume on the MIX page.
I’d prefer to not use T8 as a Master track, since I’m using outboard gear after the OT anyways.
If it’s better to use T8 as a master it would be worth it for that looping purpose.

What’s the best apporoach to do this? I’m sure it’s possible.

I believe you would have to use a Thru machine if you want to be able to capture and loop any of the inputs. Turning the volume up in MIX (and I assume you’re doing the DIR in MIX) you are just direct monitoring those inputs.

Also, if you want to capture internal sounds to loop, you can use SRC 3 in the recording setup and set that to a track or to CUE. For the latter, anything being sent to CUE would be captured. So, you can select which tracks you want to loop for transition.

Of course, CUE
Thank you. Will use my OT in Studio Mode from now on.

Of course you can record without using thru. Via rec setup
