this is one of those parameters I never seem to make a difference with.

That parameter only affects samples played at alternate speeds using timestretch, and only when timestretch is set to “beat”…
Set a drum loop to use beat timestretch, change the bpm significantly so it’s stretched, and mess with the parameter to hear the results… The higher the value the more transient detection is used for the timestretch. Can be subtle depending on material…
