This is a ‘just wondering’ question. What are the benefits of using compact flash? Does anyone know the logic for the Elektron using that as oppose to usb?
A CF card is portable flash media. USB is a way to connect devices.
I was more referring to usb memory. Compact Flash just seems like an odd route to go for storage.
It works , seems quick enough. Octatrack is getting old tech wise ( even octatrack 2 has lots in common with oct1 which is 7 years old ) , they quite cheap , large memory , lots of options to use them on USB adapters …
I’m not sure anyone has refused to buy one because it’s using compact flash. Sure there are newer bits of tech but it works.
Right, i just didnt know if anyone was up on the decision from an engineering standpoint. Like I said, more of a curiosity.
…because no other exchangeable mass storage solution, like way more common sd cards, can offer the same safety during realtime access …reading out 8 stereo streams of audio flawlessly in realtime requires quite some datatraffic…not to mention all the xtra gimmicks an ot is asking for to let u enjoy all that realtime actions an ot has to offer beyond it’s ram buffers…
… Makes sense… Thanks for the reply…
My question was always - why sticking out the back?
