Just wondering; why is the ‘backbone’ in the octatrack different than in the rytm and A4?
why the SETS (instead of only projects and banks?). i find it a bit strange that you can not just browse your samples on the SD card regardless of which set you are in. There are probably reasons for this, so please enlighten me!
You might want to keep your samples and associated projects seperate. Ive only ever used one set. For all my projects in 6 years. So you can ignore the Sets level of organisation if you wish.
I also usually use only one set, but once I created a set for tests, mainly for bugs related tests starting from new projects.
I’ll probably do it again on my new CF card, to avoid having hundreds of projects quickly in one set! Still possible to delete tests projects of course, but that way it’s clearer.
i thought about this too a few days ago.
only thing i could think of:
it should be easy to back up (and delete) a set when you want to start completely fresh.
when you have samples that you use in multiple projects and don´t want to go through the hassle of collecting all the samples to the project folders, or you decide that maybe it´s time to switch to a different sample set because all the folder you never use get in the way.
It’s at least a nice feature to have if you want to start from a clean slate without using a different CF card or deleting tons of stuff from an old one.
From time to time I really get fed up with my ever growing audio pool and work on a few projects within a new set. It’s quite refreshing when you haven’t to scroll that much around and sample everything just in time when needed.
so, to conclude:
use sets to avoid feeling the shame of all the projects you will never finish.

…kind of…
i also use just one set since day one on two different machines…
it’s an relict of old datastructure thinking…topleveldomain, the set…and for each set just one audiopool please…that’s god old oldschool swedish nerd mindset thinking…
same with “parts” that are nothing but kits, end of the day…
so let’s keep in mind…ot was as much a gamechanger when it was brandnew a decade ago, as much as it is today…still in production for so many good reasons…not sad but set.
Its a bit like a Tennis match. If you had all the games in only one Set you could end up with a tonne of games/projects etc leading to a mess. And its easier to seperate the sets into genres as well.
