I’ve had an Octatrack for a few months now. Still digging in. What a strange and powerful machine.
I’m hoping to send midi data from the Octatrack to play soft synths on my Ipad Air 2. But I would also like to use the Duet 2 as my Ipad’s d/a. I haven’t yet had luck routing midi through the USB slot on the duet. Does anyone else use this setup and have tips? I own an Iconnect/2 as well, fwiw.
I do in fact have that app, yet I’m struggling to get midi via the Iconnect and into the Duet usb “Midi” input. I’m beginning to suspect that this is not possible.
I intend to keep the Duet connected to the Ipad’s Lightning connector so that I can use it as my audio interface. In so doing, I no longer have the “IconnectMIDI2+” options automatically appearing in apps as an input option. I now see “Duet USB” as an option, but Im not able to get any midi recognized.
I gotta rant a tad… If ind it frustrating that in 2015 we still have difficulty routing midi with ease and simplicity. It seems to me a totally basic need to use the duet as my ad/da as well as my midi input. Frustrating that its not a breeze.
Im not using a computer. My aim is to be efficient and minimal.
I have an iPad air 2 with the duet 2 attached via the lightning connector. I am then routing my octatrack’s midi out into “din1” input on the iconnectmidi2+. From there I’ve attempted USB cables out of the front of the iconnectmidi and into the “midi” USB socket on the duet. I’ve accessed the “port routing” options in the iconnectmidi app to try routing the midi properly. No luck.
I’ve been using an ICM2 as well and i feel your frustration. You may well be shit out of luck. Could you try going from ipad lightning to ICM2 then out to duet?
It really oughtn’t to be this difficult in 2015 but sadly, is.

Well, this functionality is advertised on the box. If it isn’t working, I would contact Apogee support.[/quote]
He’s trying to route the midi from the OT via the iConnect midi 2 though… That’s where the problem lies I think…as the USB device ports of the unit need to be connected to an ios device or computer.
I don’t think ditching the ICM 2 + and using a Din midi to USB adapter will help either as the USB input of the Apogee is designed to accept only Coremidi class compliant devices …

I see
I forgot the “midi” on the Duet 2 was for a core midi compliant device. Mine is the non-iOS Duet 2, and I assumed the later Duet 2 had din ports on it.
