So… just bought a sample pack off Elektron website… followed the instructions to put the OT into USB mode, I tried dropping the folder into the OT on the computer but it eventually comes up with an error message saying some files could not be read… the OT then ejects itself from the computer and then the OT freezes… happened about six times now… can anyone help?
Only way to stop the freezing is a power down but don’t want to keep doing that.
I’m doing it wrong, right?
Try a different USB cable? Try just a few samples at a time and see if that works?
Which pack?
I have - still the same thing. Kinda worried i’m screwing the OT up by all the power cycles so i’m keeping tests to a minimum atm!

Just thought what had been downloaded would be as easy as drag and drop after OT was in USB mode. I was wrong lol.
Theres instructions that I can’t copy and paste for some strange reason but i’ve tried following them and nothing happens… it actually doesn’t make sense to me but that’s just me.
…only 44k wav files for ot…if we’re talking about a soundpack for takt or model, well that’s all 48k mono…
and u should have a mirror copy of ur cf card on ur desktop…do u?
convert the files elsewhere and then drop ur stuff there…THEN connect ur ot with ur computer and copy the content from that mirror back up to the card…eject the ot icon from ur desktop again and there u go…
It’s 44k… it’s an octa sample pack so all is okay that end.
When you say mirror copy… do you mean the thing that comes up ‘Octatrack’? that’s all I can see.
Right! Samples have now copied, not sure how I managed it but they’ve copied.
Now I can’t find them in the OT… any ideas?
…and all what u find behind that icon should always have it’s backup copy (a mirrored version of ur card) somewhere on ur computer…
dunno what ur audio pools folderstructure looks like…but whatever u drop in there will be found by the ot once u ejected that ot icon again properly…like any other external harddrive…
make sure to remove the usb cable once a transfer is done…that can cause trouble sometimes…
if ur problem persists, those files are corrupted somehow and u better get rid of them…on the card/audiopool and on the desktop/computer…
…and with that latest news from u…have a closer look…ur free to structure ur audio pool (on ot it just says audio) in any way u want…BUT u might created a new set!..that’s highest rank in the card structure and always contains a new audiopool by default…so view ur card via the computer again and look if u got different sets there…click in the set folder…there u find ur audiopool again…
don’t get frustrated…ur files are where u dropped them…ur just got no real clue where to look right now…once u create ur own folderstructure within a sound/audio pool it get’s way easier…
if u created by accident another set…no need for that…one set containing one audio pool is always fine…if so, drop that new set into the bin…
it’s easy to get lost in first times dealing with the ot…

It’s an odd situation and not normal behavior at all.
I had always wished Rytm and DT’s +Drive was a simple mountable dusk the same way OT’s CF card is, as 99% of the time the transfer process is quick and painless.
Glad you got the samples you need onto the machine, in the end.
Often when people have this problem it’s because they’re choosing [Exit] on the Octatrack, which causes it to leave USB disk mode and unmount it from the computer. Don’t do that! Leave the Octatrack on that screen until you’ve finished transferring the files and unmounted it on your computer.
P.S. are you using Windows or Mac?
Cheers mate - yeah, it’s transferred… or at least it said it did but trying to find it in the OT is proving difficult. I’m very new to it and haven’t spent enough time with it to understand so theres always that. I just get so bogged down trying to use it every time that I don’t bother hah. Terrible attitude.
I think I seen some sort of file/folder saying DnB but there doesn’t seem to be an option to load it or whatever… again, i’m new. Maybe I should just get a DT… haha
Rytm and DT use sysex right? Thinking of a DT… is it a pain in the arse to transfer bought sample packs?

It just takes more time than it would on an OT.
Transfer has made things much smoother than the C6/SysexLibrarian days.
You can at least do file management with the Transfer app now, and that’s a big bonus that only the OT’s scheme had prior.
I use it on my Model:Samples and it’s smooth, just don’t jump in if you’re already pressed for time.

…wait a second…u’d be the first to give up that early on the ot…
ur struggeling here with the only thing that was never ever a problem…
plug the usb connection…say usb disk mode on ot…ot appears on desktop…ship a load of sound folders in the audiopool of ur card…eject the ot from desktop…remove the cable…pick a track on the ot vi double tab, choose an engine, arrow to the folders, then into the folders, prelisten via func yes, pick one via jes, press another time yes to confirm and there is ur sound ready to be triggered…no big fuzz, once done a few times…
so start from scratch…it’s no sample player in first place…and holy fuk, ur able to create folders, are’nt u…?..on the ot, left and right arrow buttons will always navigate u in and out through whatever ur folder structure looks like, that u can easily do on ur mac upfront and at any given moment…
my goodness…try again…ur missing out on endless sonic wonderland options…
and will soon find out, that there is no need for prefab sample pax anyways…
