Yeah, I saw another thread about this after I posted, but no one’s asked about saving a copy. There’s no way to get hold of the .bin file somewhere in the OT and save it to the card, which I can then tranfer to a computer for archiving?
You can “SEND UPGRADE” from factory menu, so I think it wouldn’t hurt anyone if someone does the dump of MIDI communication extracting the SysEx data from it

Don’t worry about it - support will almost certainly confirm it is functionally identical to C if you needed to ask - there’s no way that you’d be worse off if you elected to keep a copy of C for safe keeping
e.g. see this discussion wrt AR … .this is purely an internal thing within Elektron - they probably won’t release D purely just to prevent users upgrading for no reason
