Need your opinion on this if i should add an Octatrack MK2 or Digitakt II to my 6U Modular 6U system?
I prefer the simpler/more direct Digitakt for pairing with modular, since the modular is already going to be taking up most of my available brain energy. It might be helpful to mention what you might want to do with the device + modular to help people give you feedback. Either of them can be
- A sequencer, through a MIDI to CV converter
- Drum machine accompaniment
- An FX processor
- Something to just take quick and dirty samples from the modular to use later
etc etc. Octatrack can do some bonkers stuff the Digitakt can’t with manipulation of recording buffers, but if you don’t ever want anything like that it’s just extra complexity in your machine.
Octatrack!
Depends on what you want to do (do you perform your music or do you compose layer by layer for example) what your modular system looks like (e.g, happy accident bleep bloop system vs custom classic synth) and how much Elektron experience you have
Both are great machines, but with radically different philosophies.
I own a Shared System. I dont perform live, I work in ableton I have good experience with elektron and also Octatrack
Octatrack Mk1.
