Octatrack not starting/stopping Bass Station ii sequencer

Hello guys,

I got Bass Station II and for the love of me I can’t get my Octatrack to start/stop the sequencer on the BSII.

I can do it with a TD3 or TB3 normally, but I don’t know what’s going on. If any of you have any experience with this combo, I would really appreciate your input.

My mission is to only start/stop the BSII with the OT.

My set up on the OT is:

Midi sync: Transp send x / Clock send x / Prog CH off

Machine: Thru track/ Input A B in stereo because the BSII is hooked to a stereo reverb pedal.

Signal is coming in through the mixer, I can hear everything when I turn the DIR volume on.

I put a trigger on step 1 and press play on the Octatrack and it only opens the volume so you can hear the BSII but it is not starting stopping its sequencer.

Tempo is synced on the BSII.

Thanks a lot

I no longer have a BSII, but I don’t recall it responding to MIDI start and I don’t see it listed in the manual.

This ancient post seems to confirm this:

If you turn on the sequencer and turn on “hold” on the BS2 you can send it a midi note from the octa on step 1 of your sequence and the BS2 will run neatly in sync.

The midi note you send to the BS2 will determine transposition of the sequencer. You could even transpose your BS2 sequence in the course of your pattern by sending it other midi notes on other steps.

Thank you guys. I ended up just using the OT sequencer and arp, which I consider to be better and deeper than the BSII.

Appreciate you

Have fun ! I hope you can sequence BSII mapped sounds !
