Octatrack non linear use

hello,

a bit strange question about a sample sequencer, whats in a name , but anyway (i want to know how much freedom one has):

can i use track 1 and 2 to loop the 2 tracks non linear with very long (lets say 2 min 10 sec. and 2 min 22 sec.) sample playback (manually triggered) so an evolving background arises
and use 3 and 4 as (non linear) live samplers/loopers?

yes, though within constraints of sorts, but i’ve had a ball back when i first got the OT doing similar ‘phasing’ things with samples ‘off the beat’ - works well on short samples too, where the phasing will be more obvious and repetetive
