Octatrack mkii: Solution when you need to overdub midi recording perfectly?

It is possible to overdub midi record on a single midi track on the Octatrack.

But I guess there is no way to re-do an overdub by deleting only the last overdub, a la MPC, Push, etc.

Does anyone use the Octatrack in this way, if so what workarounds do you have?

I like using the Octatrack midi sequence/record to record midi passes because there is negligible latency and I can easily edit the sequence through the Ocatrack itself (vs DAW). But I miss the ability to reverse an overdub and correct it until I get the perfect layering of notes, in case I make a mistake on a pass.

Keen to hear how others are using it in a similar way, or something that might expand my thinking!

thanks

If I need to over dub midi I usually will have 2 tracks pointing to the same midi channel. I havent figured out an easy way to merge them yet though, but it works for editable overdubs.

Ok, I was thinking along these lines as well. Just use up another track, which does not affect the first.
