Hello, I would like to know if you are using arturia beatstep as a MIDI controller for octatrack and what are your thoughts on it.

I am using an OT mk1, but each encoder is becoming less responsive due to age and deterioration, so I am thinking of using an external MIDI controller to control it.

It might be cheaper (or at least comparable) to ship it to Elektron and have them install new encoders (if they still do off-warranty work on the MKI) or have someone local do it than to buy a Beatstep. It’s a pretty straightforward repair so the labor costs shouldn’t be too high.

I use an external controller for track volume on my MKI and it works really well, but personally I’d want to get the OT back in full working order before I added anymore hardware.

You are absolutely right. I will look into repairing it; the Mk1 is not supported by the manufacturer, so I am left with no choice but to ask a repairer in town.
I got a cheap BEATSTEP and started using it.
I have only assigned the track ON/OFF. volume yet.

I wish I could also assign Octatrack playback and stop, but I couldn’t find it in the manual.
