Octatrack Missing Pixels

Hello everyone,

I am in the market for an octatrack and came across this lovely deal on reverb.

https://reverb.com/item/21940400-elektron-octatrack-dps-1-sampler-with-case

I plan on doing some gigging with this thing (once I manage to figure it out) so I was immediately attracted to this listing since it includes a case.

In the photos you can see that there is a row of missing pixels. Does anyone know to what extent issues like this are documented for this device? If it’s something that involves buying a new screen… well maybe I’ll say no thanks, but if the fix is just a matter of cleaning some ribbon cable contacts then maybe I can take a chance.

Any thoughts?

I would contact Elektron support and have an estimate of the screen replacement, if I were you.
Not implying that it HAS to be changed, but you might find it annoying at some point, or it might be the visible part of an iceberg…

Very expensive, especially with an annoying defect if you want to sell it. You can find MKIs at 600-650€ (France).

It’s fair to say it has that defect. The price on the other side is rofl-lol for this. I would not buy it.

Yes, the price is really off. Especially with this defect.

Additionally: the defective horizonal line is in a quite bad position (crossing the already really small track state icons of T3/T7).

Yeah I just saw a used mkii go for this price on eBay lol… I’ll keep looking. Thanks everyone.
