Octatrack Midi CC

Are the Octatrack capable of sending midi cc messages to a vst instrument in a daw?
In example sending midi cc 74 to control filter cutoff on a vst synth.
I am using Studio One 4.

Yes you can do this but CC data for like the synth parameters might be harder to map you will have to look in your VST synth manual for MIDi CC. anyways if your using ableton send midi out cable into your midi in audio interface or usb midi dongle, then in ableton set midi from your audio interface to the VST synth. I have done this with ableton and FM8. HMU If you run into issues!

So you just use one of the 8 midi tracks to send only the cc message to control the vst parameter?

In example if u use track 1 for pitch/note and track 2 for the cc message ?

Well I mean at this point you should control the whole synth with the octatrack not just one filter parameter. But yes is you can find the MIDI CC for that filter parameter ? If it’s cc 74 map that CC number to a midi CC slot in the octatrack for that vst synth channel and then turn the knob and see if it works ?!?

Sure, ill check it out when i get home.

I just meant using 1 sequencer track to trigger the pitch/note and another track to trigger a parameter i.e cutoff.

You should be able to do both on the same midi channel there are 10 assignable midi CCs per channel and all channels can be the same midi channel so then you can have 80 MiDI CCs for one MIdi synth.

Nice . It will probably be a late night :grinning:

I got it working. But im trying to find a way to have cc messages ONLY on one of the tracks without any note information being sent on that track. Do you think thats possible?

Yep. Use another track with same midi channel and use trigless trigs (FN+ press TRIG).
