Inspiring. The iPad is great food for these Elektron samplers.

I was in a viking kinda mood

Yup! Best thing is that i start on my phone waiting for my kids to get through swim team, then move on to the ipad.

Thanks!

nice work! listened a few times, simple but really balanced mix @Stemshade

Nice stuff!

How are you using the scenes here - just for muting/unmuting tracks?

Gotta say the Gadet sounds are pretty sweet. Never really paid any attention to it.

thanks, what i did was commit to stuff before exporting, hi-pass filters, eq, fx, even reverb on the snare and some other stuff, delays, compressors, saturation,
really counter all i ever learned and did before, but forcing myself to “limitations” has really pushed me into a new direction and i’m loving it.

depends, some of it (like the first few on scene a and b are bringing in tracks, and then theres’s a lot of pitching up or down on some tracks, and changing delay times, and sweeping the comb filters, etc. basically whatever i could throw in that stuck. my next try i want to start using certain slots for the same types of scenes so that i have a little more control, because once i set these up i record pretty much right away and sometimes i might hit a scene before i wanted to or whatever
although part of the appeal of doing all in one box, with no song mode or whatever, is that happy accidents pop up that i enjoy myself when listening back.

Great track!

Gadget is a great app. I’m currently working on song using nothing but iMonoPoly and Recife gadgets.

Thanks! Yeah gadget is awesome, i have a lot of other ios stuff but struggle to get in a groove. Gadget is just quick and sounds great althoughbi export all tracks dry and use better fx in auriapro. Don’t have imonopoly yet but it’s on my shortlist. I only use bilbao with imported samples for drums except sometimes maybe the snare from tokyo.

Whoa, that track was all Bilbao? Impressive!

The motivation behind my current Gadget project is to see how versatile iMonoPoly can be, excluding drums (I’m sure it could do kick sounds and stuff like that - but I don’t want to take on the extra work, lol). Trying to focus on just the one synth to get to know it better.

the drums are are all bilbao, one per sound, what i did was setup folders with my favorite kicks, snares, etc. and then i have an 808 hat folder, a 909 hat folder, etc , all slightly different samples so when i program a hat i use different samples, which i think gives it more movement and is not as stagnant. the bass is dublin, the bells are chiangmai and there is helsinki and oddyssei. 4 drum tracks, 4 melodic tracks.

i really like imonopoly but spent way too much recently on music stuff so holding off for a bit. the most important paid gadgets for me so far are bilbao and oddysei.

I really like this, nice work! I love gadget too, and written so many ‘starter’ tracks of 4 bars or so - feeding them into the OT would be a great idea to give them some fresh life.

So did you separate the drum sounds onto 4 separate tracks; one for kick, one for snare etc?

Also wondering, did you export a long song and then use slices to segment it into sections? That’s what I was considering anyway

thanks! yeah i’m super vocal about gadget with everyone i talk to regarding music production. i have”better” moog (model 15), 303 (troublemaker), etc
but they aren’t in gadget. so yeah those starter gadget tunes are great for the ot. just export the whole song (all individual tracks) to dropbox and load into your daw/editor of choice and cut up into 2 or 3 segments i usually do 1 bar of kicks, 4 of bass synth, and 8 of pads, etc. i export dry and effect in the daw. all paterns are precut in the daw so i don’t slice in the ot other than messing around some.

for ot only songs i usually do 3 tracks of drums and 4 tracks of melodic stuff if i want to use 8 for the master track, or 4 drums and 4 melodic like this one without the master track.

i had forgotten the specifics of this one and this gadget session doesn’t have a hi hat so i must have added a sample in the ot. here is a pic of the gadget session before exporting, all fx off and mostly at unity

Yeah- gadget is REALLY cool. And it runs SO well on iOS. Meanwhile, I was experimenting with multitracking my iPad apps through AUM mixer/iConnect Audio 2+, I got 3 apps recording and started running into processing glitches.

Cheers man, thanks for sharing your workflow

I also recently learnt that gadget has separate midi channels, so you can also sequence 8 gadget midi tracks, which is amazing!

Yeah depends on the apps. 2 instances and 1 good reverb in aum and i get some glitches. Brambos stuff i light on resources.

Yeah but gadget’s sequencer is so easy and fun. If i’m gonna be hooking up sequencers to it i would rather use some of the million ios apps i have bought and hardly use , or external gear. Fixing the scale on the gadget sequencer window and just pointing away is almost fool proof.
