Hello,

I would like to use the Octa to trigger sample and loops live…

I tried to use it as a live backing but it doesn’t work…… you can’t save any tempo in a song and the arrange mode is a bit of laugh !!!

So i switched on a MV 8800 to do the job ( drummer needs a click) then I thought oh I can trigger the octal from the MV… yes but one gremlin on the top…

So the octal is there in my studio, I jam with it… boring to have such a gear without being able to use properly as it was supposed to work….

Ok one more precision : I play guitar and sing so my hands are full busy !!!

For many reasons I’m going to tour alone…. so sequence, drums, bass and drones must be sequenced ( I hate computers on stage… too dangerous it’s ok when you are keyboard player but as a performer it brings me a lot of stress….

So here is my question : does anybody here have an experience with a pedal board to trig the beast ? I would put the audio drums/bass on the MV and firing midi seq and audio from the octa live ….

Any suggestions ? Also anybody knows a reliable hardware sequencer to replace the MV ( loading time is so long………………)

Regards

Your statement surprises me, because the Arranger mode on the OT allows you to set the tempo for every row of the arrangement or to leave the tempo at the current default tempo.

What do you find lacking about the Arranger?

I have a Behringer FCB1010, but any other pedal board that can send MIDI Note messages or Program Change messages will let you trigger tracks and samples or change patterns.

I use the OT for backings on big shows with a band - no problems so far.

1 shot trigger for the sample(s), disarm, start OT (click for the drummer, cue out), then arm the 1 shot trigger when you want.

tempos are set with the arranger.

all good.

Peter, any bad issues with the FCB ?

Anda : arrange is only 4 songs and the worst is : when you hit stop and then play it starts at the beginning of the arrange…….

also I can’t use my hands : i play guitar and sing…… I’m furious I can’t get a way to use it on stage ….

The FCB is OK. It is big, but I got it cheap. I added the third-party UNO ROM.

Other people rave about the KMI foot pedals, but I haven’t tried them.

And the OT actually has 8 arrangements per project. If you can be a little imaginative about your songs, you can fit more than one song into an arrangement.
