Octatrack inputs dc coupled? Direct eurorack input possible?

Hey,

I’ve tried searching but can’t find an answer ;(

I’m currently without a cv to line converter module, wondering if I safely can send audio from rack into the inputs?

I’m pretty sure I’ve recorded from my buddy’s euro mixer to my OT.

MKI or MKII? I believe the MKIIs have a different input specification. If I weren’t in bed right now I’d go test this out for you on my MKII. I’m near certain you can do it though.

I definitely managed to get output straight from MI Elements into OT mk1 before I had an output module without any distortion just by setting the input gain low.

DC coupling doesn’t matter for this use case, as the OT doesn’t use CV signals.

I think they’re wondering about using the buffers as quasi cv recorders.

Nope though thats a cool idea! I was just thinking of trying to record the audio out at eurorack vs line level. Wasn’t sure how the gain staging would work and if clipping wud occur before the input gain was applied!

I ended up trying it out when I got home and its easy to send into the red but seems to be okay??? :smiley:

I think in some of the sets Cenk would do with his modular fx rack he ran the output of the mix module right into his inputs and would use the headphone out as the cue out. seemed to work okay?

Yeah you can do that, I do it all the time… you can even attenuate the outputs of Octatrack to euro level… I have my Que outputs set up to send to Euro directly.
