Octatrack hanging

looking around the forum for a feel of why i was getting these hangs out of the blue and there seems to be a correlation with the OT and the usb connection/USB mode. mine had a couple of weird hangs i haven’t seen in the 5 years i’ve been using it. one had to do with track one which started blinking yellow and wouldn’t load anything. even restarts wouldn’t fix it. had to trash the session.

the next two hangs sounded like a tiny section of the sample being looped and all the controls were unresponsive.

first thought was: “i’m glad that didn’t happen live”

any thoughts?

If you haven’t changed anything else with regards to how you’re using your OT/USB i’d say maybe updated OS with new ”features”?

What OS are you on? I’m on macOS and have had a bunch of weird things happen when the OT USB is attached. Nothing similar to what you’re describing though.

im on 1.40B for the octatrack. not sure the OS of the mac i did the transfer on. thanks for sharing the info. there are other things happening with my own macOS and other stuff too. hmmmm.

Sorry. Realized what i said was a bit confusing. When i said OS i meant the computer end, not OT.

Interesting you mentioned that “track one” silence, I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. Also had to trash the project and start a new one. Couldn’t be fixed with any machine type settings, or SRC settings. Even auditioning samples wouldn’t work.

I remember reading somewhere it could have been an accidental scene selection, might have grazed scene A and touched the track volume knob setting it to minimum when the slider is set to that scene… but it wouldn’t explain the blinking yellow?

a good amount of chill can be derived from figuring out bugs and workarounds.
