I try to achieve that LFO modulation with Start/End point… Loop point can’t modulate ? or i miss something… How guys you will achieve that kind of effect on the OctaTrack i post an exemple on voice under, but it work also with every materials to transform that in a strange evolving texture ! SOMEONE Experienced who have yet already done something similar to share their tricks ? THANKS
Hi,
I dont think possible to modulate loop points using an LFO, which is a bit frustrating (it seems the AR can !).
However there are two workarounds for this :
1- you can modulate the start point of the loop manually in the sample editor and resample your sound.
2- you can set rtrig to inf, and modulate the start parameter (on the playback page) with an LFO. That way way, each time the sample is retriggered it will start at a different position.
Thanks zite909 : i will try that also on the AR to see if i get what i looking for

Yes i’m on it way when i stop today and finally asking if someone have another trick or way to do that…
I’m pretty sure you can do this by locking start position of a loop to slide triggers
Not on Octatrack. Modulating START with RTRIG set to INF does produce a neat effect but being able to modulate the Loop point would be preferable.
Hmm.
Try setting LEN to TIME in playback prefs. Then modulating LEN should do it.
Just did an experiment, set “Len” to time, “slice” to off (in the second playback menu).
Then set “Len” to low value and play with start, or even better modulate star, and maybe also Len with an lfo… And you have something similar… For even crazier stuff also modulate or alter rate, try with both rate set to pitch and to tstr…
This was rather fun, thanks for the idea
Yeah! This is actually pretty great.
With STRT = 0 and LEN = 1 and slow LFOs with DEPTH = 1, you can get some lovely, very useable, granular effects.
Also modulating RATE, as abergdahl suggests, is loads of fun as well!
Great tips, guys!
EDIT: setting RTRIG to INF and adjusting RTIM on top of all the above settings - gives very detailed control of the granular effect!
cool
And here is an example of using these granular ideas and a pickup machine to create a rhythm…

Nice but it’s more Glitch than Granular at my Hear
That’s pretty much how I did this old track:
and this one:
Hi guys
I was trying to find a similar way to obtain a granular feel:
it would be very nice to have a sort of windowing function on the octatrack
'cause this glitching grains are not the most musical to my ears, at least if your are trying to mimic a sound scape granular fx.
Programming a ramp in and out to avoid the glitch
is simple… at least on a computer.
Another chance would be creating a new machine into the machine menu with a granular fx in mind.
Maybe in the future…
