Thanks all for your ideas, inputs and advices.
At this stage I am in no rush but only trying to plan things.
As it is, OT is making things easier on one hand (using it as a drum machine/mixer as I do not have modules for this purpose) but on the other hand, it makes it more complicated: I realize I am not at all liking screens and menus. I have actually taken the path to not having a Eurorack module with LCD/screen. Furthermore, the never ending choice of samples is making it worse for me. I cannot come to terms with choosing. Sounds stupid but that is what it is.
I can see and forecast my next steps: a dedicated kick module and a clap/snare/hats modules.
A mixer module will most likely make it’s way too. Cosmotronix have a very clean one. Has 2 sends: 1 mono return and 1 stereo + options to automate panning on 2 stereo pairs.
You know, as simple as this is, I overlooked it for…years? In my case I am outputting from an ALM Mega-Tang, and I adjusted to about -36dB for a perfectly balanced input. Thank you for posting this!
Hey, are you using a Mk2?
Still undecided how to go on about outputting Euro to my OT… I still have a 4ms Listen4 but this thing is way too power hungry (200mA +12V).
Outputting a stereo signal (Osiris and Manis Iteritas through euro FX) from Euro into OT as well as 2 separate mono (SY0.5 and Plaits).
Let me know
I am using an MK 1. Coming straight out of a eurorack level mixer, using a 1/4 to 1/8” cable.
Got in touch with the guys at 4ms as the module’s manual was pointing out something and indeed, once again, RTFM
If the headphones output is NOT being used, the module only draws 70mA +12V instead of 200mA +12V
It gives me a bit of headroom in terms of power consumption.
Thanks for your feedback. I suppose you are trimming down the incoming levels at mixer level in the OT?
I’m doing the exact same thing, line out from the euro rack mixer straight into my OT.
Not even touching the levels on the OT inputs.
Bring the level of the eurorack up until I just hit the red on the OT LEDs. Thru machine at max input vol. Done.
They are always (in my case) at 127
I have these set up to +63 indeed.
I sometimes sample from inputs directly (instead of post FX) using Cue+REC2 (source of my stereo input from modular).
I use In A and In B as mono inputs for respectively Plaits and SY0.5
These I was talking about.
I have these at 127 when resampling live so there is no difference between original sound and sampled sound.
