I notice a strange behaviour on my Octatrack. In one project the crossfader sends midi cc values to Ableton but in another no. I checked the midi configuration for both projects and i am not able to see any difference. The configuration is the next one:
Midi Sequencer / CC Direct Connect : Yes
Midi Control / Audio CC In: No
Midi Control / Audio CC Out: Int + Ext
Midi Control / Audio Note In: No
Midi Control / Audio Note Out: Int + Ext
Midi channels are as default:
Auto Ch: 11
Trig Ch 1 to 1. Trig Ch 2 to 2 … until 8
And finally, Transpose enabled to send and receive. Clock only to receive and program change to receive only on Ch 14
I am checking the MIDI messages on a Midi monitor on mac btw, so there is no more devices involved. My idea is control Ableton’s crossfader
one particular caveat: are you sure Ableton does not filter channel assigned Midi Control Messages for the channel set to receive Midi on the Audio Track in Ableton? As far i know you can only circumvent this limitation by using max/msp objects. Apart from that your monitoring should be able to see it coming in.
Not clearly specified in the manual.
CCs midi channel used by crossfader and scenes also depends on Midi Tracks settings that can block Audio Tracks send.
